Twelve Dutch startups awarded CES Innovation Award | News item

70 Dutch startups will go to the CES tech fair in January 2024 to present their innovative technological solutions to potential customers and investors. It involves presenting challenges in the areas of energy, digitalization such as photonics, circular raw materials and healthcare. As many as twelve of them have a so-called Innovation Award received from a jury. This makes them among the best international designs, innovations and products. The Consumer Electronics Show is the largest global tech fair and is held annually in Las Vegas, America.

The winning Dutch startups are Axelera, Doser, Focus, Healthplus.ai, InkInvent, LV Energy, Mantispectra, Naya, Sevvy, SlimDesign, Susphos and Whispp. MantiSpectra for example, is working on a small spectral chip that accurately controls material properties real time can be measured and produced on a large scale. Another example is Susphos that is developing a new circular method to produce sustainable phosphate products from wastewater. Another winner is Whispp that develops AI speech technology that converts whispered speech into real time into a person’s natural voice, including the intended intonation and emotion.

The Dutch government plans to take additional steps in the coming years to strengthen Dutch start-ups scale up further improve the business environment. That is why five detailed ambitions have been set for more financing and better access to market capital, sufficient available talent, a higher number of tech jobs, more growth into scale-ups and a focus on knowledge-intensive startups (deep tech).

Minister Micky Adriaansens (Economic Affairs and Climate): “Over the past seven years, Dutch startups have participated in an organized manner in the CES. For quite a few of these growth companies, this was their breakthrough. I am convinced of the Dutch level of knowledge and our innovative power. And these awards confirm that again.
That’s why we need the Dutch startup and scale up continue to stimulate climate and focus on good cooperation between entrepreneurs and researchers, but also on attracting more venture investments.”

CES is the annual meeting place for more than 170,000 companies and investors from approximately 160 countries. The full list of participating Dutch companies can be viewed here. The Netherlands is participating in CES for the eighth time.
