An explosion occurred at the Club Oxy nightclub in Tilburg on the night of Monday to Tuesday. Part of the facade was destroyed. A glass door was also damaged. The police closed off part of Pieter Vreedeplein on Tuesday morning.
The explosion took place between half past five and five o’clock. Forensics are currently investigating. The police could not say more on Tuesday morning.
Owners are watching
Walkers and cyclists look surprised when they are stopped by the police tape. A few people still try to crawl under the tape to quickly get to the other side, but are rebuffed by enforcement.
Others look at the facade of club Oxy. The door is half destroyed and the rails of the side wall are broken into pieces. There are a few pieces of debris on the ground. “It’s something,” says a man on a bicycle.
The club’s owners watch from behind the ribbon. They don’t want to respond.
‘Broken walls’
Employees of surrounding catering establishments heard what had happened in the morning. “When I came here, I thought it was a joke at first. But I had to detour from the police. Only then did I see the broken walls,” says one man.
“It doesn’t look good,” says an employee of another catering business. “Luckily no one was inside when it happened. That would have been much worse.” Both men do not know Oxy’s owners. “Everyone just does their own thing here.”
