In total, approximately 2,100 animals are still waiting for a new home in the recognized Flemish animal shelters. Flemish Minister for Animal Welfare Ben Weyts (N-VA) announced this on Tuesday. At the same time, the minister is launching a new campaign ‘Adopt an animal’, which should encourage Flemish people to first go to an animal shelter if they want to adopt a new pet.
