On Tuesday evening, officers found and seized 165 kilos of fireworks in a house in Roosendaal. During a further search of the house on Christiaan Huijgensstraat, the police also found an automatic firearm, several knives, a striking weapon, a few thousand euros in cash and drugs.
The 39-year-old resident of the house has been arrested, the police announced on Wednesday morning. Police went to the house after receiving an anonymous tip.
The fireworks were found in ten boxes in a bedroom. Because officers smelled a strong odor of cannabis in the house, it was decided, with the permission of the examining magistrate, to thoroughly search the house. Various weapons, among other things, were subsequently found.
