Jan Versteegh himself has offered himself to the Friends Lottery to become one of their ‘ambassadors’ (advertising columns), says former colleague Rob Goossens. “That’s no coincidence!”

We often see celebrities in lottery advertisements and critics find this questionable, because you are promoting a game of chance. The reason why they do it is simple: it just makes a lot of money. Many stars are very happy when they receive a lottery request. In fact, you don’t even have to wait for that!

No coincidence

What about that? TV expert Rob Goossens explains The BLVD Podcast: “You can also just report yourself if you would like. Yes, because coincidentally… I just mentioned Jan Versteegh. I was in the dressing room with him at 6 Inside and there were two other lottery faces there: Wolter Kroes and Albert Verlinde.”

He continues: “Then the conversation turned to those lotteries and at one point Jan asked: ‘Yes, how does that actually work?’ Then Wolter Kroes mentioned the name of someone who makes these kinds of contacts at the Postcode Lottery and three months later I suddenly heard Jan Versteegh in a commercial. Hahaha. I don’t think it was a coincidence.”

Super attractive

Would Luuk Ikink say yes to such a lottery request? “It’s of course super attractive and I think everyone would say: ‘You’re crazy if you don’t do it’, but I also think… I don’t think so, no. I never considered that. I’ve never been asked either. You?”

Rob: “I wouldn’t do it on principle. It’s a bit of swearing in church, but I’m just having a bit of trouble with the Postcode Lottery. Because of the whole design that everyone actually has a lottery number, because that is their own zip code. It’s just a recipe for sad people who think: if only I had. All those celebrities are participating in that.”

‘I’m not participating’

Luuk would find himself unbelievable as a ‘lottery ambassador’. “The Postcode Lottery’s objection is of course a well-known objection. Whether it is not some kind of emotional blackmail.”

“I don’t participate in lotteries. I’m not a lottery type, so I think it would be crazy to spread that word.”
