Formula 1: Verstappen is also in his own league in Brazil

As of: November 5th, 2023 8:04 p.m

At the Brazilian Grand Prix, Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen clinched his fifth victory in a row on Sunday (November 5th, 2023).

After his success in the sprint race the day before, Verstappen was unbeatable in the 71-lap race. The Dutchman in his Red Bull took his 17th win of the season in the 20th race 8.277 seconds ahead of the once again strong Lando Norris in the McLaren.

Third place went to former world champion Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin, who just kept Sergio Perez in the second Red Bull at bay in a tight finish. Nico Hülkenberg finished the race in the Haas in 12th place out of 14 drivers who reached the finish.

Red flag after first start

At the first start the field only made it to the first corner before the safety car was deployed. A collision between Alexander Albon in the Williams and Kevin Magnussen in the Haas forced the red flag. It wasn’t until half an hour later that the restart took place, which had little new to offer: Verstappen simply drove away from the front on both the first and second attempts – and nothing changed until the end of the race.

The last two races of the 2023 season will take place in Las Vegas (USA, November 19th) and Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates, November 26th).
