The police have arrested a man who allegedly threatened with a firearm in the Amstelveen Stadshart earlier this afternoon. During his arrest on Ouderkerkerweg, a firearm was found on him.
A police spokesperson confirmed this to NH. “Several witnesses had seen a man with a firearm in the Stadshart,” he says. The man is also said to have threatened with the firearm, but the police do not want to say who or what he aimed at. “We cannot say anything about that because of the investigation.”
Immediately after the reports sent a Burgernet notification warning of an armed man in the City Center. Because he was possibly a firearms hazard, the public was advised not to approach him themselves. The police advised to raise the alarm instead.

The first track led to Groenelaan. Because it was rumored that the man was sitting in a stationary bus near Sportlaan, officers in bulletproof vests approached that bus.
When the bus was searched, it turned out that the man had already fled. He was found five to ten minutes later, at the gas station at the junction of Ouderkerkerlaan and Burgemeester Rijnderslaan.

There, officers drew their service weapons and forced the man to the ground. Eventually he was handcuffed and taken to the station. The police are still investigating the gas station: they are looking for clues and witnesses are being interviewed. Witnesses to the arrest are asked to contact police.
