Meatballs are easy to make. But at least in one matter you should keep your composure in mind.
Do not knead the dough too much so that the meatballs do not become hard.
Meatballs are Finns’ favorite food, made by themselves or bought from a store. If you make the buns yourself, remember a little tip.
The worst mistake you can make with the meatball dough is that you knead it like a bun dough. Then the meatballs or minced meat patties become tough.
Instead, the raw materials are precisely mixed together.
Homemade meatballs are almost always the best. You can bake the buns either in the oven or in a pan.

5 tips for good meatballs:
1. First mix the salt well into the minced meat. Add the egg and carefully mix it into the minced meat as well.
2. By making the meatball mass this way, the end result will be much better. You get a mass that binds the liquid and stays together better.
3. Never knead the meatball dough like a bun dough. Then the meatballs or minced meat patties become hard.
4. Instead, the raw materials are just mixed together.
5. Use oiled hands to roll the meatballs and fry them in butter on medium heat in a frying pan. When the buns are ready, add parsley and thyme to the pan, which you can then spoon onto a plate to accompany the buns.
Meatballs
(4-6 servings)
1 dl breadcrumbs
2 dl of water
400 g ground beef 17%
1 teaspoon of salt
0.5 tsp black pepper
1 egg
1 onion
1 tablespoon of butter
2 tablespoons of rapeseed oil
1. Measure the breadcrumbs into a bowl together with the water. Let it swell for about five minutes.
2. Add salt, black pepper to taste and egg to the minced meat. Mix until smooth.
3. Chop the onion and fry in oil in a pan. Allow to cool for a while and carefully mix into the meatball dough.
4. Fry a small meatball as a test and check the taste. You can let the dough rest for a while in the cold to make it easier to shape. Roll into small balls and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
5. Bake the meatballs in a 225-degree oven (or a convection oven at 200 degrees) for about 10-15 minutes. You can also fry the meatballs in a hot pan in butter and oil.
