It all started so beautifully for Rob Kemps. His participation in De Slimste Mens caused his popularity to skyrocket and throughout Hilversum he was briefly seen as the biggest TV promise in the country. There is very little left: his contract with Talpa has yielded nothing that sticks and his image is in shambles.

Tina critical

Rob has not only left his family with young children, but he is also flailing about his newfound love in a sick way. Many people simply find that disgusting and TV expert Tina Nijkamp, who was at the helm of SBS 6 for years, understands that.

According to Tina, it is evident that his career is in a ‘major crisis’. She mentions in her column The Telegraph two reasons: “Rob left his young family and it also turned out that his manager, apart from Chansons, had not selected the right programs for him.”

Gun factor

It is clear that Rob has lost the goodwill factor, says Tina. “Leaving that family, yes, we as viewers in the Netherlands don’t really like that, but okay, we forgive quickly. Things really went wrong when Rob started posting every activity, especially trips to Paris, with his new girlfriend on Instagram.”

As a former broadcaster, Tina is an expert in the field of stars and the influence of their image on viewing figures. “Doesn’t anyone, especially his manager, tell him that that doesn’t seem very sympathetic? Of course it would have been much better to just not post anything about it.”

Last chance

Before his contract with Talpa expires, Rob can be seen on TV one more time, namely with a travel program about Elvis Presley. “I don’t have much hope,” says Tina. “It seems like his last TV chance.”

According to Tina, one thing is certain: Rob desperately needs a good manager. “For Rob Kemps, popularity came on horseback and seems to have rocketed away.”
