The Germans close the first round without scoring a single point

A goal from Raspadori gave Napoli a 0-1 victory against Union Berlin in a tangled match that ended up being decided in the second half and in which there were not many plays in the area.

Napoli had the ball but throughout the first half they had problems generating clear goals against a Union Berlin that was well behind and looking for a counterattack after recovering the ball.

While possession belonged to Naples, the arrivals belonged to Union, although with the exception of a goal disallowed for offside by Fofana in the previous play in the 24th minute, none of them were very dangerous throughout the first half.

In the second half the tone seemed the same and there was even a good phase for Union in which they seemed to have Napoli against their area. However, when for the first time, in the 65th minute, Napoli finally managed to create a clear finish and the ball ended up in the net.

An overflow from Kvaraskhelia on the left followed by the pass of deathand was taken advantage of by Raspadori to score from close range. The play had been preceded by a turnover on Union’s exit.

In the end, Union, despite a first half in which it had successfully resorted to its usual style, completed its ninth consecutive defeat in official matches and was unable to emerge from a crisis in which it entered after two seasons in which it was achieving results by above expectations.

As for the Champions League, after three consecutive defeats – two of them at home – The competition will surely soon be history for the Berlin team.
