“I will happily accept two years in prison if the alternative is being forced to deny the reality and meaning of gender,” the 58-year-old wrote in her recent post. She is responding to an article by “Mail on Sunday”. This reveals the British Labor government’s plans to classify attacks on a person’s gender identity as a criminal offense. According to critics, this would mean that not using the correct pronouns of a trans person could result in a prison sentence.

She added that a prison sentence would be more fun than she ever had on a red carpet. In the comments, she joked with her followers about what job she would do in prison and how she would pass the time. She wrote: “I’m hoping for the library of course, but I think I could also work in the kitchen. Doing laundry could be a problem. I have a tendency to shrink things and accidentally turn them pink. But I think that won’t be a big problem if it’s mostly gowns and sheets.”
Rowling had previously spoken out about trans rights and was criticized and condemned for her comments. She sees herself as a “supporter of women’s rights” and the importance of biological sex. The debate started in 2018 after she posted a photo from Dazed magazine that showed the message “Repeat after us: Trans women are women.” The magazine had projected the news onto the British Ministry of Justice.
