With the club since 2017
RB Leipzig has extended Kevin Kampl’s expiring contract. The 33-year-old midfielder signed a new working paper with the “Red Bulls” on Thursday that is valid until 2026.
“Kevin Kampl is one of our most important players. On the one hand, with his special sporting qualities and playing style. On the other hand, with his role and position in the team and in the entire club, because Kevin lives RB Leipzig every second and embodies what sets the club apart like no other. It was therefore the logical decision for both sides to continue until 2026, which Kevin has played a key role in shaping for more than six years. We are very happy to see Kevko continue to wear our jersey,” said sports director Rouven Schröder.

Kampl came to the Saxons from Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 2017 for 20 million euros; only five teammates have been at the club longer. With 220 games, the Solingen-born Slovenian is one of the players with the most appearances in the club’s young history. This season he was in the starting line-up in eight of eleven games.
“I’m just incredibly happy and proud that we’ll be rocking it together for two more years. What I have been able to experience here since 2017 is unique. I have emphasized it again and again: RB Leipzig is my club, the city is our second home for my family and me and I just love being here. We have an exciting team and as an experienced player, I really enjoy leading these boys and developing together,” Kampl is quoted as saying in the club’s statement.
