French police arrest man after knife attack near Cannes synagogue | Abroad

According to the newspaper ‘Le Figaro’, the man was praying in a car garage on Wednesday evening when the manager came and told him that “this is not a place to pray”. The man then allegedly shouted “God is great” in Arabic and tried to stab the manager several times. The perpetrator fled, but was quickly apprehended.

According to public prosecutor Damien Savarzeix, the events took place about 200 meters from a synagogue, “but it is still too early to say whether there is a connection.” The man is accused of incitement to terrorism and armed attack.
