The special operation launched by Russia in Ukraine will prevent a military conflict in Europe, said the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin on the air of the TV channel “Russia 24”.
“A special military operation will restore peace in Ukraine in a short time and prevent a potential larger military conflict in Europe,” Naryshkin said.
According to him, “Russia cannot allow the transformation of Ukraine into a dagger brought over us in the hands of Washington” and the only way to this is demilitarization, denazification and the neutral status of the Ukrainian state.
Naryshkin noted that for the United States and its NATO allies, the principle of equal security guarantees laid down in OSCE documents is an empty phrase, and the Russian authorities were convinced of this during the latest series of negotiations with Western leaders. Naryshkin called the negotiations themselves fruitless.
