You can see extra shooting stars next weekend thanks to the Orionids

This coming weekend, an additional meteor shower will streak through the starry sky. Thanks to the so-called Orionids, 22 to 33 shooting stars can be seen per hour during the night from Saturday to Sunday, Weeronline reports.

In a remote place with little light pollution, four times as many meteors can be observed. Fans of shooting stars will also not be bothered by the light of the moon, which disappears behind the horizon before midnight.

Unfortunately, the conditions for observing the Orionids are not ideal, says Weeronline. The peak of the meteor shower will occur around 5 p.m. on Sunday, when it is still light. It is also unclear whether any cloud cover will obstruct visibility due to changeable weather. Still, the weather bureau expects that any clearing will provide an opportunity to see the shooting stars.
