This attached video photo captured at the start of the program ‘Al Rojo Vivo’ last Friday on La Sexta, has circulated intensely in the media and networks. The condemnation has been almost unanimous.

They have used the technique of ‘augmented reality’ to impress viewers and gain screen share, decorating the set with the destruction of Gaza. And in this race to spectacularize the war, I don’t know if you have realized that under these buildings destroyed by the impact of the bombs that adorned the set, there were human corpses. If I remember correctly, the first time that ‘Al Rojo Vivo’ used the ‘augmented reality’ technique was in October 2018, on the occasion of the arrival of the AVE to Mecca. A train burst onto the set, increased and at full speed. It was shocking. They were happy in La Sexta. They wrote on their website: «It is a new way of narrating that is more agile, faster, avant-garde and dynamic.». I don’t think they’ll write the same thing today with this ‘augmented prop’ about destruction and death. It would be rude to apply the words ‘avant-garde and dynamism’ here to highlight that they have achieved television ‘agility’.

Aside from this program, what we viewers are seeing is that now all the television attention is on Gaza. The news coverage on Ukraine has plummeted. Of Zelensky We no longer remember. I don’t want to be unfair to TV: the Israel-Gaza war is, in fact, current affairs. But TV always has the same behavior when it comes to news: one event covers the other, no matter what event it is. The most terrible thing is not the news, it is the so-called ‘magazines’ and the like, and their court of sitting gossips. They pontificate the same about the dismemberment of Thailand, about the ‘Rubiales case’, about the abusive priest of Melilla-Málaga, about the war in Ukraine and now about Gaza. And everything is enlivened by commenting that some hooded men have stolen bags from someone’s house. Carmen Lomana. I have seen creatures on sets who talked about Donbas and did not know how to locate the Kerch Strait on the map. And those same people were talking about Hamas and Hezbollah, and they did not know the perimeter limits of the West Bank.

There are so many wars in the world that the networks, instead of focusing on them, are forgetting them. They only focus on the last one. Waiting for the next one, which will be the new show, in ‘augmented reality’.
