Red Bull signs young German driver

Haas driver Nico Hülkenberg is currently the only German driver in Formula 1. Looking into the immediate future, the 36-year-old will probably remain the only one for the time being. However, a young driver can now have hopes of moving up to the premier class soon.

Red Bull has signed young German driver Tim Tramnitz for its junior team – an important step for the 18-year-old on the way to Formula 1. It is also important news for German motorsport.

Tramnitz is one of the most promising talents from Germany. Like four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, he is now starting his career with the world champion team Red Bull. The now three-time world champion Max Verstappen also comes from the Bulls’ junior program.

The Hamburg-born Tramnitz has been competing in the Formula Regional since 2022. Two races before the end of the current season, he is in third place in the overall ranking. There have been eight podium finishes in the racing series so far.

Tramnitz: “Big dream come true”

Tramnitz is aiming for promotion to Formula 3 in 2024. In October he was able to complete a few days of testing for the MP Motorsport team in Jerez and Barcelona.

“For me, this is a big dream come true. I’ve always worked towards an opportunity like this and I’m absolutely grateful for the trust in me,” says Tramnitz, looking forward to the new chapter.

For the youngster, who has been part of the ADAC Sports Foundation’s support squad for several years, “being accepted into the Red Bull Junior Team opens up completely new opportunities. Recently we didn’t even know whether we would take the next step towards FIA Formula 3 “I’m really looking forward to the new challenge and really want to impress with a good performance.”
