The mistake back then was to sack Darren Moore. I still don’t know what they were thinking back then. Yes, Sheffield missed out on direct promotion, but they still managed to get promoted to the Championship through play-offs. Until then, there had never been a team with 96 points not promoted directly from League One.
With their old coach they would have definitely had more points in their account. Nevertheless, it has to be said that Sheffield’s squad has not been strengthened well enough. Of course it could be because the club is heavily indebted, but at the moment I don’t see how the team can manage to stay in the league.

It’s a shame because I’m a Sheffield Wednesday sympathizer and would like the club to at least play in the Championship. I see a lot of parallels to the situation at Eintracht Braunschweig… unfortunately.
Of course, I wish Mr. Röhl every success. If he manages to stay in the league, that would be amazing. But as a first coaching position, I find the situation in the club extremely difficult. If you can master that, H. Röhl has the potential to soon train in BL and PL.
