Beach volleyball World Cup: Ehlers/Wickler in the round of 16

Won again, again without losing a set: Germany’s top beach volleyball players Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler confidently reached the round of 16 at the World Cup in Mexico.

After a perfect group phase, the German champions also won against the Austrian duo Julian Hörl and Alexander Horst in the round of the best 32 with 21:12, 21:17.

Ehlers and Wickler, ranked seventh in the world rankings, are the only male World Cup starters from Germany. All three women’s teams around the European Championship bronze medal winners Laura Ludwig and Louisa Lippmann will also fight for a place in the round of 16 late on Wednesday evening German time.

The round of the best 16 is played on Thursday. In addition to the World Cup title, the winners will also receive an Olympic ticket in Mexico.
