The postponed digitization of the citizens’ offices is a big disappointment for Berliners, says BZ editor Hildburg Bruns Photo: dpa/picture-alliance

I would have bet that the new Senate would not be naked when it comes to citizens’ offices – turbo promises would definitely be kept. I thought.
This is how you can be wrong. Of all things! The Governing Mayor Kai Wegner has made the topic of digitization of the administration part of his responsibility in order to underline its importance and to loosen the previous brakes.
Appointments are now canceled during the first test. This means that announced online offers for Berliners are missing. And the employees are not relieved.
After all, the digital registration certificate is a service that the previous red-green-red Senate had already announced for September 2022.
Digitalization seems just as long-winded as building an airport. After the recent setback, one cannot really be optimistic about the next challenges.
Find additional staff, because the fluctuation in the citizens’ offices is already high.
