A police chase ended tonight at Uilenstede in Amstelveen. Thanks to cooperation between the police and the Royal Military Police, one suspect could be arrested.
The chase started at Vinkeveen and went onto the A2 towards Amsterdam. The police tracked down the suspect (car) after an ANPR hit. The so-called ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system automatically scans and recognizes license plates.
Ghost driving
The suspect allegedly drove against traffic on the highway. The chase eventually ended at Uilenstede via the A9 and, among other things, the Amsterdamseweg in Amstelveen, a police spokesperson confirmed.
The suspect was arrested by the police, in collaboration with the Royal Military Police. A police helicopter was also deployed. According to the spokesperson, it was thanks to the cooperation that the suspect was arrested. It is unclear what the arrested person is suspected of.
