It’s a wrap. No fewer than 27,000 people took part in the 39th edition of the Eindhoven Marathon this weekend. Runners started this Sunday in the half and full marathon, among others. The event ended at half past five. Curious about the highlights? You can see them here.

The Mini Marathon started at nine o’clock from the Boschdijk tunnel. The youngest athletes ran 1.6 kilometers here. And that was accompanied by a lot of fun.

Meanwhile, runners on Montgomerylaan were preparing for the 5 kilometer City Run. Valerie was the first woman to cross the finish line after 21.22 minutes.

All kinds of beautiful banners flew in the air along the course to encourage the runners.

The starting signal for the entire marathon was given at ten o’clock. Thousands of riders left from Mathildelaan.

In the meantime, the atmosphere was good at Stratumseind. There the runners walked the last meters to the finish line, or people who had finished enjoyed a beer.

Just after twelve o’clock, Kenneth Kipkemoi from Kenya was the first to cross the finish line of the full marathon. He ran a time of 2:04:51. With this he broke the course record of the Eindhoven Marathon from 2012. The Kenyan said he was overjoyed: “I am so happy to be here”.

Chloe Herbiet set the fastest time among the women. The Belgian participated in the marathon in Eindhoven for the first time. With a time of 2.27.54 she also became Belgian champion.

Discharge at the finish! Many runners crossed the finish line with a big smile on their face.

You would almost forget it when you see all those runners crossing the finish line smiling: running a marathon is sometimes just plain hard.
