The marathon elite has crossed the finish line! Kenneth Kipkemoi from Kenya is the fastest and runs a time of 2:04:51. That is faster than the course record from 2012, when a time of 02.05.46 was run.
The Kenyan says he is overjoyed. “I’m so happy to be here.”
The record is impressive because it seemed so far away. Half of the course the elite managed to get through at exactly 1 hour and 3 minutes: a good twenty seconds slower than in 2012 on that split.
The course record was in the name of Dickson Chumba from Kenya. He ran a gem of a time in 2012: 2:05:46.
