Everything is open again in the AZ group: “We have done our job well”

The pressure was slightly on at AZ in advance, but the team passed the test against Legia Warsaw. The Alkmaarders won 1-0 and Aston Villa narrowly defeated Zrinjski Mostar. As a result, all teams have the same number of points. “Now we have done our job well,” says trainer Pascal Jansen.

Against Legia Warsaw, Vangelis Pavlidis gave his team the lead just after half-time, but after that it suddenly became a nightmare. Mayckel Lahdo took a stupid red card, after which the Alkmaarders had to survive. “That was not a convenient moment,” says trainer Pascal Jansen.

With an eager Denso Kasius as substitute, AZ still won the match. He came within the lines and covered almost the entire right side with his energy single-handedly. “I bring energy, don’t I,” Kasius says about his game. The right back played for FC Volendam two years ago and is now in the starting line-up at AZ. “I’m happy to add that to the team.”
