Champions League winner Telekom Baskets Bonn has had a catastrophic start to the season in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). After the defeat at Rasta Vechta, the runner-up also lost the duel with the second promoted team on Wednesday at 76:88 (28:39) against the Tigers Tübingen. This means that Bonn has already had as many defeats as in the entire main round of 2022/23.
The encounter from the first match day had to be rescheduled because the Bonn team were traveling to the BBL start in Singapore to take part in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. And the completely newly formed Telekom Baskets showed a very weak performance on the rescheduled date against Tübingen, and the deficit grew constantly.
Even before the final quarter, the game was over for new coach Roel Moors’ team (49:67), with Jhivvan Jackson (27 points) and Christoph Philipps (23) in particular causing enormous problems for the hosts. The best thrower in Bonn was Glynn Watson (22). On Monday (8 p.m. / Dyn) the Telekom Baskets will meet the Syntainics MBC from Weißenfels, which has also not won yet.
