Asylum seekers from Ter Apel transferred to Assen so that they do not have to sleep outside

To prevent asylum seekers from having to sleep outside the registration center in Ter Apel next night, some of them will be transferred to the waiting room in the Expo Hall in Assen. People have also been transferred to regular asylum seeker centers in the rest of the country.

The WTC complex in Leeuwarden, which has also been used as a waiting room since Tuesday, is already full, according to the COA. This location has room for a maximum of 250 asylum seekers and the waiting room will remain in use for six months.

According to the COA, the transfers have just managed to prevent people from having to sleep outside on the night from Wednesday to Thursday.
