Libraries in Drenthe are scrapping fines for young people

Youth members of the Drenthe libraries will no longer receive a fine if they return their borrowed book too late. The measure applies to young people up to the age of 18.

The libraries hope that by abolishing the fines, young people will return to the library more often. Biblionet Drenthe thinks it will be easier and more relaxing to read if the fines are gone. That is the organization of cooperating libraries.

By encouraging children to visit the library regularly, the organization wants to stimulate lifelong learning and reading.
