Borussia Dortmund’s U23s lost a two-goal lead against SpVgg Unterhaching. The third division game ended in a draw on Sunday.
The Westphalians had led 2-0 through Julian Hettwer (5th) and Paul-Philipp Besong (33rd), but Mathias Fetsch (36th) and Patrick Hobsch (87th) rewarded the guests for a superior second half.
The 2,800 spectators saw an eventful game in the Rote Erde stadium. BVB started extremely powerfully and were rewarded with the lead after just five minutes. Starting from a Göbel cross from the right, the ball ended up in a detour at Julian Hettwer, who netted from thirteen meters from a tight angle on the right.
Strong first half for Borussia
After this period of pressure from Westphalia, the guests got better and better at their game, but Borussia always remained dangerous and extremely nimble. Unterhaching close to equalization
Both teams also kept the second half fast-paced. Almost equalized when Fetsch had a free shot from nine meters after a cross from the left, but narrowly missed it so that the ball only landed on the right side netting (58th). While BVB was the superior team with the better chances in the first section, Hachinger now took over more and more of the game.
Skarlatidis and Krattenmacher narrowly fail
From a similar position to Fetsch shortly before, Simon Skarlatidis came close to equalizing for the promoted team. But his direct take from a rebound after a Fetsch shot attempt landed to the left of the goal (64th). Maurice Krattenmacher narrowly failed with a shot from 15 meters on the left that narrowly missed the right post of the BVB goal.
Haching was now overwhelmingly superior, Dortmund was now hardly able to take any offensive action. Opportunities arose for the guests, especially after standard situations, but with a bit of luck Dortmund survived these moments of danger. Until the 87th minute of the game.
Hobsch scores the deserved 2:2
