1. FC Köln believes the FIFA ban will be lifted

After the hearing before the International Sports Court Cas, Bundesliga soccer team 1. FC Cologne is optimistic that the currently suspended ban for two transfer periods will be completely lifted.

“Based on the statements of the witnesses and the experts, we are confident that our arguments will be listened to,” said Vice President Carsten Wettich at the general meeting. Since the hearing a week ago, the FC had not yet commented on the ongoing proceedings.

“You can’t name the time”

FC was convicted of inciting a breach of contract when Slovenian junior international Jaka Cuber Potocnik (18) moved to Cologne on a free transfer in January 2022. Former club Olimpija Ljubljana took action against it. Wettich explained that it is assumed “that Jaka’s termination will be considered legal and that the ban against him as well as the transfer ban against us will be lifted accordingly.” Attorney Wettich was one of three FC representatives at the hearing in Lausanne.

Potocnik had resigned because promises made in writing and verbally had allegedly not been kept. One day after the termination he signed in Cologne. Wettich did not want to predict when a verdict could be expected: “You cannot say when.”
