Are you still looking for a very special restaurant for the weekend? I have a tip.

Recently, after a long time, I was a guest again at Solar in Kreuzberg. A combination of a restaurant on the 16th and a sky bar on the 17th floor of this rather inconspicuous building on Stresemannstrasse.

A glass elevator takes you up. The view over the city from here is phenomenal, as are the furnishings and ambience. Wow!

Unfortunately, this award does not apply to the prices, which have increased significantly since the last visit in 2015.

I order the cheapest main course: the corn-fed chicken breast for 29 euros. Without any supplement, mind you. The waiter recommends the pastrami baguette – for 16 euros.

After all, it tastes fantastic. However, such prices always make me sad. A glass of Pinot Gris also costs 12 euros.

Another drawback is the extreme noise in the restaurant. If you want to have a nice chat, this is the wrong place for you…

The cigarette afterwards is available upstairs in the smoking area of the bar. Enjoy the great view once again, which at least compensates a little for the expensive bill.

Solar, Kreuzberg, Stresemannstraße 76, ☎: 0163-765 27 00. Fri./Sat. 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., Wed./Thurs. 6 p.m. to 1 a.m
