FIS SnowKidz Award nominates the Andorra School Ski program

The Andorra Ski School project has been nominated as example of promoting skiing among children and young people in the international competition of the FIS (International Ski Federation) Snow Kidz Award. This is the second edition of the contest that rewards initiatives that promote the practice of this sport, taking into account the conditions of each country. The Principality, through the Andorran Ski Federation and the candidacy for the Andorra 2027 World Championships, chooses to win the contest, competing with eight other proposals that have been made public this week. The jury will decide the winning project during the FIS congress in Vilamoura during the month of May, which will also determine the venue for the 2027 Alpine Ski World Championships, which Andorra chooses to organize.

Among the criteria evaluation of the proposals, the members of the FIS jury value different attributes. One of the factors that has more weight is that it is a successful initiative in a demonstrable and quantifiable way when young people have their first contact with snow. The quality of the project, in the sense of planning and execution; its evolution, both in terms of the number of participants and actions added and improvements over time; the possibility that the project could be transferable and implementable with relative ease to other national ski associations; whatthat it proves to be a long-term project capable of retaining children in snow sports, are also requirements that the jury evaluates. As second priorities, it is also valued that the proposals have commercial viability and promotional value, contributing to increase interest in snow sports activities through communication and dissemination actions.

Everyone finalists will receive a prize of CHF 5,000 and a certificate. The winners will additionally get 10’000 CHF the first place, CHF 8,000 the second prize, and 5’000 CHF will be for the third winning proposal.

The other nominees to the FIS SnowKidz Award are the projects Bill Koch Ski League (USES), Simon Ammann Jump Parcours (Switzerland), Everyone on Snow (Sweden), My First Snow Day (Spain), Mission Sandkids (Peru), Moes’ Wintersport Club (Netherlands), shred kids (Germany), and Snow Moves! (Finland).

School skiing is a compulsory physical activity for all primary school students, schooled in Andorra.
