Swedish clothing retailer H&M introduces fees for returning orders.
Customers now have to pay a fee of 1.99 British pounds (around 2.30 euros) for their packages that are returned in store and online, reports BBC. The additional costs for customers, which will be deducted from the refund, were introduced in the summer, a company spokesman confirmed to the British news channel. Members of the H&M bonus program are not affected.
H&M is thus following the example of competitors such as the British clothing retailer Boohoo and the Spanish fashion retailer Zara, which has also been charging fees for returns in Germany since May last year.
It is currently not clear in which markets H&M has already introduced the return fee and whether only the flagship brand is affected or also others in the Swedish group, which also includes Cos, Monki, Weekday, & Other Stories and Arket.
H&M has not yet responded to a request from FashionUnited.
