In autumn hair falls naturally, specialists insist that it is a normal hair renewal process, which grows back after a few months without the need to resort to vitamins or anti-loss lotions. There are times of the year in which the hair is “changed” more than in others and although some species shed all their fur at once in a single time of the year, in the case of humans this conversion is progressive.
According to experts, of every hundred hairs, there is always 12 or 15 percent in the replacement phase, so it takes around four years to completely renew the hair. This random drop has only one exception: newborns. At three or four months, babies lose practically all of the initial fluff that covers their heads to make way for new hair. From there, the skull will repopulate randomly throughout life.
However, in recent years, specialists have observed how the replacement is a little earlier, coinciding with climate change. “We specialists insist that almost all hair that falls out in autumn recovers and will reappear after three or four months, whether we take vitamin supplements with it or not. Our follicles need to be renewed the same way,” explained the specialist. Ramon Grimalt.
“It is not just that the hair grows back, but that most severe alopecia does not cause sudden hair loss. And that is the message we convey to the majority of patients who visit our office on these dates. “Eight out of 10 people do not have any disease, they are just scared of going bald,” explained the Spanish dermatologist.
Experts clarify that it must be taken into account that the root of the hair is half a centimeter deep below the skin. For this reason, hair that comes off easily is because it is in the renewal phase. It is always advisable to consult a dermatologist, who will be able to determine if the fall is physiological or pathological.
Although climate change has the effect of bringing forward renewal without waiting for the autumn months, it is not usually the most notable factor in hair loss. Experts agree that emotional stress can force more hair than normal to enter the shedding phase. Therefore, hair loss is very likely to appear approximately three months after the stage in which the person has been especially stressed.
