Johan van Boxtel murder case: second suspect arrested

The police arrested a second suspect in the murder case of Johan van Boxtel on Tuesday morning. He was shot dead six years ago in front of his house on Memlincstraat in Eindhoven. The suspect is a 42-year-old man from Eindhoven. He was arrested in the prison in Grave. Last week, a 35-year-old suspect from Geldrop was also arrested.

Johan was murdered on May 7, 2017. Two people had waited for him at his house and shot him dead at close range after he had parked his car. A suspect was not found. The Verzocht investigation paid attention to the case. The family of Johan, then 32, decided to offer 75,000 euros for the golden tip in the case. That was in addition to the reward of 20,000 euros that the justice department promised at the time.

The police recently revived the investigation into the murder after receiving new information. Last Monday the suspect from Geldrop was arrested.

A second suspect has since been sought. CCTV footage of the murder showed that at least two people were involved. After investigation, the police found the 42-year-old Eindhove resident. He is suspected of involvement in the murder. When he was arrested, according to the police, he was still being held in the PI in Grave ‘due to another investigation’.

The police have not ruled out that more people will be arrested.

Cannabis trade
Van Boxtel was involved in the cannabis trade. He was also convicted of attempted arson at a tanning salon in Oss. The police have previously said that the motive for the murder was sought in the criminal environment.
