Perennial winners VfL Wolfsburg will face Bundesliga rivals Werder Bremen in the round of 16 of the Women’s DFB Cup, while champions Bayern Munich will face regional league team Kickers Offenbach.
This was the result of the draw on Monday evening in the highlight show “Nachspielzeit” of the women’s Bundesliga on “Sky”.
“Bremen is always an unpleasant opponent, it won’t be easy,” said Wolfsburg international Svenja Huth. Wolfsburg have won the cup nine times in a row since 2015; Bayern only triumphed in 2012.
Eleven of the twelve Bundesliga teams are still in the race, with only promoted team 1. FC Nürnberg being eliminated 0-1 by second division club Carl Zeiss Jena in the second round.
The round of 16 will take place on November 25th and 26th, the final will take place on May 9th, 2024 in Cologne.
