Possible successor to Thomas Tuchel revealed

Thomas Tuchel is currently firmly in the saddle at FC Bayern despite some quarrels. Should a separation occur one day, the German record champions allegedly already have a plan B in place with the coach of a Bundesliga competitor.

As “Bild” reports, Bayer Leverkusen’s successful coach Xabi Alonso is “at the top of FC Bayern’s list” when it comes to coaching candidates just in case.

The tabloid even describes the 41-year-old Spaniard as Tuchel’s “shadow man”. A commitment seems “only a matter of time.”

It is said that the former Munich professional still enjoys a high reputation on Säbener Strasse.

The long-time club boss and current supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is already considered a big fan of Alonso and guided him to FC Bayern as a player in 2014.

The new CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen is also said to be “enthusiastic” about Alonso and his work in Leverkusen.

Explosive: The rumors arise shortly before the direct duel between the two teams on Friday (8:30 p.m.) in Munich, which Bayer will even go into as league leaders.

Like FC Bayern, the Werkself have also played their three games so far in 2023/2024. However, 9:2 goals on the Munich side are countered by a goal difference of 11:3 for the Rhinelanders.

FC Bayern: Thomas Tuchel’s job is currently “not at risk”, but …

Alonso took over as head coach at Bayer from the hapless Gerardo Seoane (now Borussia Mönchengladbach) in October 2022. He led Leverkusen from 17th place to sixth place in the league and into the semi-finals of the Europa League.

For now, however, Tuchel doesn’t have to fear Alonso. His job is currently “not at risk,” writes “Bild”.

Recently, however, there had been increasing reports that there was already a tension between Julian Nagelsmann’s successor and the FC Bayern management team. The main bone of contention is the transfer policy.
