The DKB had already announced in June that it would soon say goodbye to the previous website and banking app. The new and old apps have been used in parallel for months. But that is now over, because the DKB will finally make the change in October.
With the announcement in June that it would soon say goodbye to the old app, the DKB also launched its new website. The bank informed users about the adjusted web presence via email. However, not all functions were available at the start, so bank customers were sometimes referred to the old website. But since then, the DKB has made good progress and made many important functions available via the new browser view. On October 10th, the DKB will finally switch to the new app to match the new website.
DKB announces end to old banking app
Anyone who currently logs into the old DKB app (white icon with blue logo) will see the message that “this app will no longer be supported from October 10th”. Instead, bank customers should switch to the new app, which shows a blue icon with a white logo to make it easier to distinguish between them.
The new app has so far been in testing and can be used in parallel with the old application for many months. The DKB regularly updated it to include new functions so that it can be used just as fully as the previous app. For example, the function of processing standing orders via the new app was only added this summer.
The new app now has almost all of the important banking functions. It was also – unlike its predecessor – specifically developed for use on Android smartphones and iPhones. The previous app, on the other hand, wasn’t particularly nice to look at on mobile, as it basically just paved the way to the banking page. The DKB has therefore announced that it will finally discontinue the old app on October 10th and thus standardize and simplify mobile banking across all users in the future.

This is what DKB customers have to do now
From October 10th at the latest, DKB customers will not be able to avoid switching to the new app. This can be done free of charge for Android or iOS download. Before installing the new DKB app, however, users should check a setting and adjust it if necessary. On the help page, the DKB informs you that the mobile phone number stored in banking must be up to date. You can check whether this is the case in online banking under “Service” and “Personal data”.
After installation, users can log in with their usual login details. You will then receive a code via SMS that you need to confirm. Hence the request for the cell phone number in advance. If desired, the login can then also be confirmed using a pin, fingerprint or facial recognition as part of two-factor authentication.
What happens to TAN2go after the changeover?
Orders can be confirmed via the new banking with the new app. The previously specified pin, the saved fingerprint or facial recognition are sufficient. In most cases it is no longer necessary to enter a TAN.
According to the DKB, it can still happen in some cases that users are automatically redirected from the new banking to the previous banking. For example, if a function is not yet available in the new app. In these cases, you will still need the TAN2go app to release orders.
