The reader may think that this is an adaptation of the famous adventure book written by the Scotsman Robert Louis Stevenson in 1834. On the other hand, this series, whose original title is “The Curse of Oak Island“, may well be
the x-ray of the human obsession with revealing mysteries.
Let’s go in parts. Many believe that a huge treasure is buried on the so-called Oak Island, located south of the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia, Canada, due to the legends and stories that emerged since the end of the 18th century. Theories abound as to who could have hidden it. From the infamous pirates Captain Kidd and “blackbeard“, secret societies such as the Freemasons or the Knights Templar, even the philosopher and scientific thinker Francis Baconwho, they say, buried the original manuscripts of Shakespeare.
The specific thing is that, in 1795, three teenagers discovered a strange, deep artificial well and, inside, they found several intriguing artifacts. Over the years, world-famous celebrities were drawn to the islet, prompted by other finds, such as a piece of gold chain link and a scroll with tiny writing.
Some of those who invested time, energy and money in revealing what he could have hidden were the young president Franklin Delano Rooseveltand the famous actors John Wayne and Errol Flynn. The tradition includes tales of apparitions and eerie lights, but also a widespread prediction that no treasure will be found until seven seekers have died trying to find it. The current number of victims is six.
Thus, the focus is on brothers Rick and Marty Lagina, who bought a stake in the company that owns the property and became the latest in a long line of wealth hunters. Based on scientific revelations that great sources of silver and gold are found in the depths, the Lagina and their
team, are trying to identify the location by applying cutting-edge technology such as muon tomography and carrying out large-scale excavation operations that include new methods of constructing shafts and tunnels.
Without a doubt, it is extremely attractive to see the tenacity of these men who have dedicated years and millions of dollars to discover the truth about a riddle wrapped in an enigma. But the greatest attraction of shipping lies in the history lessons that are interspersed and show a path of conquests.
