This is the iPhone 15 – When will iPhone 15 be released?

The most noticeable change to the latest iPhone is the charging port. That permanently changes into a USB-C port. In concrete terms, this means that your iPhone can now also charge with a cable from, for example, Samsung or OnePlus. So it’s over for good with Apple’s well-known lightning charging cable. The change comes after pressure from the European Union. It wants all mobile phones, tablets and digital cameras to be able to be charged with one and the same charger by August 2024.

What is immediately noticeable is that the smartphone no longer has a ‘notch’ or notch above the screen. This has been replaced by a so-called ‘dynamic island’. Such an island is an interactive area that can display content such as your timer, your media player and your notifications.

It is also striking that Apple has opted for very fresh colors. These are bright pastel colors such as green, blue, yellow and pink. The only neutral color in the range is black.

In addition, according to Apple, this smartphone is also a lot easier to use in full sun. The display can reach a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. That is twice as much as with the iPhone 14. Reading your digital newspaper in the sunlight should therefore be even easier.

Finally, the camera: it is equipped with a 48-megapixel sensor. So you can take even better and more detailed photos with it than with the iPhone 14, which was ‘only’ equipped with a 12-megapixel camera. Also new is that the camera stores the depth data of a photo. So you can change focus after taking a photo. Furthermore, portrait mode will be enabled automatically when your camera recognizes a subject. This means you don’t always have to switch camera functions.

The iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max are Apple’s showpieces, and that is also noticeable this year. First of all, the smartphone is made of titanium. According to Apple, it is almost the same material as NASA’s Mars lander. This makes this iPhone the strongest iPhone ever.

Another novelty are the screen edges. They are noticeably thin. It almost looks like this smartphone has no bezels, a very futuristic idea. The colors remain rather sober compared to the regular iPhone 15. You can get the Pro in black, white, blue and of course titanium.

Furthermore, the new camera on the iPhone 15 Pro Max also catches the eye. Apple’s most expensive smartphone is equipped with a periscope camera. With this camera you zoom in 5x. That is a lot more than the 3x telephoto lens that you find on the smaller Pro. In addition, the battery is also said to have been improved. For example, the iPhone 15 Pro has a 14% larger battery. That should make for the longest lasting battery ever from Apple. However, they don’t seem to want to say exactly how long that will be.

Finally, it is also noticeable that the ‘mute button’ has disappeared from Apple’s premium smartphones. The button has been replaced by an ‘action button’. You can use this to open the camera, for example. Moreover, you can set a shortcut to it yourself. So, for example, you can set it to open Google when you press the button.

The iPhone 15 is slightly cheaper than its predecessor. Last year, the cheapest iPhone 15 model cost 1,019 euros. Now that is ‘only’ 969 euros. The iPhone 15 Plus is available from 1,119 euros.

The premium models obviously cost even more. The Pro is available from 1,229 euros. You pay 1,479 euros for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. For comparison: the Pro cost 1,329 euros last year. The price of the Pro Max has remained the same.
