In 2022, land area devoted to coca planting and production increased 13 percent from the previous year, according to the United Nations Office Against Drug Crime (UNDOC). The cultivation of the coca plant now takes place on approximately 230,000 hectares in Colombia, according to UNDOC figures.
The end product, cocaine, is mainly exported to the United States and Europe. The size of the Colombian harvest has increased from 1,400 tons in 2021 to 1,738 tons, according to the UN. Colombia is the largest cocaine producer in the world.
