Serbia’s Novak Djokovic defeated Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the US Open men’s final in New York. It is Djokovic’s record 24th grand slam win.

With his victory, the Serbian superstar took Margaret Court’s all-time record in a duel that lasted more than three hours.

The victory was also Djokovic’s third grand slam title of the season, after victories at the Australian and French Open. The man experienced defeat in the Wimbledon final in July.

Djokovic’s victory was also a blow to Medvedev, to whom he lost the final match at the US Open in 2021.

– I don’t know where to start. Of course, this means a lot to me, Djokovic said after his victory.

The 36-year-old Djokovic won the match 6–3, 7–6 (7/5) and 6–3. With his victory, the Serbian became the oldest men’s champion of the New York Open era.

– I’m really living my childhood dream by competing at the highest level of this sport. I never imagined that I would be here talking about my 24th slam title, he added.
