‘Why so concerned about Eva Jinek?’

Khalid & Sophie is almost out of the starting blocks again and it is a premiere with mixed feelings: everyone, including the presentation duo, knows that they are going to make room for Eva Jinek.

It is all quite painful for Khalid Kasem and Sophie Hilbrand. This TV season they will be able to run an entire season for the first time with their talk show Khalid & Sophie – so they do not have to alternate with another program – but that good news also comes with bad news. It appears to be their last season ever.

Annoyed Sophie

Although the public broadcaster is keeping tight-lipped, the AD has discovered that Eva Jinek will make NPO 1’s seven-hour talk show from September 2024 and will also run an entire TV season. Khalid & Sophie will at most get an exit like Nadia got: one more season of messing around in the margins on NPO 3.

This is of course just the television world, but Sophie in particular is really annoyed about this. Appearing in front of the camera of RTL Boulevard and Shownieuws with an indignant face. As if the TV laws apply to everyone, except Mrs. Hilbrand. And of course it doesn’t work that way.

Crazy stuff

It A.D confronts Sophie with that crazy stuff in the show sections. “Eva Jinek returns to the public broadcaster and will be on screen for the same time slot from September 2024,” begins journalist Dennis Jansen.

Sophie then: “Yes, those rumors are true, but we have a different view. We are on an upward trend, are going to have the longest season yet and are looking forward to it. I had expected that Eva would want to return to public broadcasting. She fits there too.”

‘Remains interesting’

Dennis provoked: “You reacted quite irritated.”

Sophie: “Well, it remains interesting. Officially we know nothing. My irritation was: what is going on? Who decides this? What don’t I know yet? There is some frustration that you are not talking about it. More TV makers have plans for this. Some people walk out of the Media Park white hot, because they think: why can’t I make this?”

Up or down

Khalid thinks that if they are going to have such a blast this year, they won’t have to give way to Eva. He says about this in the AD: “I don’t feel any pressure, more of a kind of energy. Make or break is a funny term. I think the NPO has also seen the development of the program. They followed us closely and looked at how we did.”

He concludes: “If we continue to do well, no one will be able to ignore us.”
