Runrig singer Bruce Guthro has died at the age of 62

After battling cancer for years, he died on September 5th. at the age of 62.

Bruce Guthro passed away on Tuesday (September 5, 2023) at the age of 62. According to his family, the Runrig singer had been battling cancer for years. The Scottish folk rock band announced this in a social media post. “It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce that Bruce passed away last night after losing a long battle with cancer that spanned many years,” the band said in a statement.

When original Runrig frontman Donnie Munro left the group to pursue politics, Guthro joined as the new vocalist in 1998. A year later, his first album with the rock group, IN SEARCH FOR ANGELS, was released. Since then, Bruce Guthro has been an integral part of Runrig until they finally said goodbye to the stage in 2018 with the show “The Last Dance” in Sterling, Scotland.

“Everyone associated with Runrig is heartbroken at the loss of a dear friend and such a special fellow musician,” the band said in a post. The singer is survived by his wife, Kim Guthro, and their two children, Dylan and Jodie Guthro.
