Among the individual stocks, WestRock shares on the NYSE temporarily rose by 3.53 percent to $33.01. The U.S. cardboard and packaging maker and Europe’s Smurfit Kappa are discussing terms of a merger that would create a new company valued at about $20 billion. The Smurfit Kappa share was temporarily down 2.80 percent at GBP 31.28 in London.
