Per Beyond Paradise – spin-off of the English series Crimes in Paradiseby the BBC – it’s time for the season finale. at the center oflast episode, airing tonight at 21.35 on Channel 5, Inspector Goodman has to solve two new cases: a fire and a theft. However, he also has other problems to think about, namely the end of the relationship with Martha.
Beyond Paradisethe plot of the last episode
Quiet Shipton Abbott is struck by a catastrophe. In just under twelve hours, three fires break outthe latter of which appears to be connected to Archie Hughes’ (Jamie Bamber) winery. Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) investigates the case: the inspector discovers that the arsonist acts according to the fable The three Little Pigs. Also, thanks to the collaboration of Esther Williams (Zahra Ahmadi), she understands how the victims are connected to each other.
It will be a silver button found on the site of the first fire to clarify. Meanwhile, Kelby Hartford (Dylan Llewellyn) delves into the security cameras of the boathouse where the gasoline used to start the fires was stolen. And he finds interesting clues. Esther’s contribution also proves to be crucial: knows the suspect and, as a mother, knows what a parent is willing to do to protect their daughter.
Once the perpetrator is framed, Archie and Humphrey have a chat. Involuntarily Archie reveals that he tried to kiss Martha (Sally Bretton). Meanwhile, the latter reflects on the relationship with Goodman and decides to break off the engagement.

Humphrey decides to leave Shipton Abbott
In the sixth and final episode of the first season of the series, Humphrey is devastated by the end of his romance with Martha and struggles to find the right focus on his job. Nonetheless, he is called to investigate a new case. It is the house of Lucy Elliot (Carlyss Peer), burglarized by a criminal. Footprints found at the scene lead to ex-girlfriend Hayley Collins. At the time of the theft, however, the woman was at the police station and therefore does not appear to be involved in the incident.
Goodman and his team note that The modus operandi of the thief is the same as Atticus Stylesa criminal known to law enforcement, but he too provides a credible alibi. Elliot is assisted by his current girlfriend, attorney Kate Nolan (Lily Frazer), employed in the same firm that defended Styles in the past. Perhaps the two events are not entirely divorced from each other.
The case is not easy to solve e Esther is struggling even more than usual due to Humphrey’s state of mind. He is sad, heartbroken over the breakup with Martha and can’t separate personal problems from work. In short, his contribution to the investigation is almost nil and he feels that the time has come for a break. Therefore she decides to get away from Shipton Abbott to find some serenity.

Beyond Paradisethe season one finale
Before leaving the UK, make one last attempt. He informs his ex-girlfriend of his decision and reveals his feelings to her. He confesses that not having her in his life would be an even greater pain than not being able to have children. Moreover, it is certain that together they can overcome any problem. However, Martha is convinced of her decision and appears adamant.
Inspector Goodman thus leaves for Saint Mariewhere he reunites with old friends and colleagues (Saint Marie is the Caribbean island where it is set Crimes in Paradise). Between these, Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington), trusted Catherine (Elizabeth Bourgine) – mother of former colleague Camille – and the current team coordinated by Neville Parker (Ralf Little).

Beyond Paradise 2when it comes out
What happens to Saint Marie? And will Martha retrace her steps or has the story with the inspector really come to an end? The two are very much in love and perhaps the last word has not yet been said. Certainly, their relationship doesn’t end there, just as the adventures at Shipton Abbott continue. So Inspector Goodman will return to Cornwall, but what new challenges await him?
To know the answer have to wait for the second season. For several weeks, the actors are busy on the set with the filming of the new episodes. It is due to air on BBC One in early 2024, possibly in February. It is not known, however, when it will be broadcast in Italy.
