Shuohan Men surprises after a disappointing season with final place in Table Tennis Masters. Thanks to a summer of training in China

Barely back from almost two months of training in China, Shuohan Men performed above expectations at the Table Tennis Masters in Wageningen last weekend. Only in the final did she have to recognize her superior in an opponent (Tanja Helle).

Both Men and her coach Jan Tammenga show themselves in the 21st episode of The Approachers, recorded the day after the Masters in Wageningen, pleasantly surprised with the place in the final. “I am sad, but I feel much better than last season,” says the table tennis player.

Tammenga: ,,Last season it didn’t work out at all. But she trained a lot in China on her forehand technique and her physique.”

They spent almost two months in her native country this summer. To visit family, but especially to train. “The level is very high there. It is better for me to train there,” she says.

Whether she doesn’t want to do nothing during her holiday, like so many others: ,,I’m used to it by training.
