Ex-Ajax interim
After parting ways with his training club Ajax Amsterdam, both as a player and as a coach, Johnny Heitinga returns to England. The 39-year-old, who as interim coach at the Eredivisie club between January and June 2023 had an average of 2.05 points in 22 games, will become part of the West Ham United coaching team.
Heitinga, who played for five years between 2009 and 2014 (see profile here), will join the Premier League club as assistant to head coach David Moyes, along with Mark Robson and Henry Newman. “John is someone I’ve known for a long time. He has had a very good experience since starting his coaching career at Ajax Academy and getting promoted to the first team. Mark and Henry are already well known to everyone here at the club and deserve the chance to move up within our structure,” explained Moyes.
