Rome, the UEFA list for the Europa League

Based on the Uefa stakes, the inclusion of Lukaku excludes the other two new entries

Out Kristensen and Azmoun. No Europa League for the Danish defender and the Iranian forward. At least for now, for the first phase. Roma will formalize the UEFA list tomorrow, but in the meantime they have obviously already sent it to Nyon (deadline at midnight tonight) without the two players in question. Whose exclusion was in fact decided when it was decided to close the purchase of Romelu Lukaku, for transfer balance reasons. Among the various stakes of the settlement agreement drawn up with UEFA there is in fact also the obligation that the value of the current squad must be equal to or lower than that of last season’s list. Where the value itself is given by 4 factors: player’s salary, balance sheet amortization of its residual cost, commissions paid to agents and overall bonuses. In the event of a discrepancy, the possibility of intervention is exclusively on new arrivals and not on those who were already part of the squad (that’s why, for example, Kristensen was eliminated and not one between Celik and Karsdorp). And to let Lukaku in, Kristensen and Azmoun had to be eliminated (a bit like what happened last season with Solbakken), who were personally warned immediately after the match lost against Milan. On the other hand, the two injured players, Abraham and Kumbulla, are in the squad, despite not being able to play until the second phase of the European competition. This is in fact a strategic choice by Roma to keep up the value of the squad itself in relation to the comparison with next season’s list, in order to have a possible greater margin of maneuver in the future.
