Giovanni Reyna was injured for around two months without Borussia Dortmund giving any details about the diagnosis of the 20-year-old American. According to media reports, Reyna was suffering from a serious injury.
As the usually well-informed “Ruhr Nachrichten” and the portal “The Sporting News” report, citing the US Football Association, a broken leg put the BVB professional out of action.
The youngster’s fibula is said to have been affected. According to “Ruhr Nachrichten”, however, it is unclear whether it was a smooth breakthrough or just a start.
One thing is clear: Reyna suffered the injury in the final of the CONCACAF Nations League in mid-June, which the USA won 2-0 against Canada. Reyna played well in the first half and set up both of his team’s goals. But he had to be substituted at the break.
A calf injury was initially mentioned in a statement from the US association. BVB later confirmed a leg injury and, when asked, referred to data protection and the protection of the professional’s privacy.
