A fire broke out in a house in the Borskistraat in Haarlem tonight. One person was taken to hospital for a check-up, the fire may have started because an e-bike battery caught fire.
The fire broke out around 7 p.m. in a single-family home and has since been brought under control. “It was a small fire, so it was out very quickly,” a spokesperson for the safety region told NH.
Crackling sound
A ‘crackling sound’ was heard during the fire, which came from consumer fireworks. One person was checked by an ambulance at the scene and taken to hospital for a check-up. “That was because this person had inhaled smoke,” said the spokesman.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway tonight or tomorrow. “This is because the possible cause of the fire is in the battery of a bicycle, but that is still being investigated.”
